The Dark Web Murders by Brian O'Hare is a gripping murder mystery and thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Readers should take note that this book is written in British English, which proposes a minor learning curve for those whose native language is American English. Some words to the American audience could look misspelled. However, the book was professionally edited, and I did not note any spelling or grammatical errors.

This suspenseful thriller has a rather large cast of characters. No need to fear, though, the author does a great job by providing essential details about all of the characters in the book's introductory information. Chief Inspector Jim Sheehan leads a team of detectives in Northern Ireland. A series of brutal murders performed by a narcissistic psychopath that bloats about his deeds via a blog on the dark web, which puts Jim's team into non-stop action. The murderer goes by the pen name of Nemein and writes in an articulate 19th-century fashion. The suspects are of elite society and do not want to make the detective's jobs easy.

What I enjoyed most about this book was the author's ability to use such a large cast of characters so well. I was skeptical when reading the introductory information of the book, which gave a prelude to why the book needed a vast cast of characters. However, the story would have been extremely dry if it were not for the depth of the characters used in the plot. Brian did an excellent job introducing each character organically in the story, providing critical attributes for each individual.

What I did not enjoy about the book was the vast use of vulgar language. To me, it took away from the story and did not add much value. However, I understand that it was in the character of the venues of the plot—just a word of caution to readers that this book does contain a large amount of profanity.

In conclusion, I enjoyed the book and rate it 4 out of 4 stars. The plot was great and full of depth. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy murder mysteries and thrillers. This book would be best suited for more mature audiences. In addition to the vulgar language, there is a large part of the plot based on highly immoral and illegal sexual acts. Though these scenes are only alluded to, the content is at the forefront of the story.
