Judge Trevor Neeson is found brutally murdered, and the onus is on Chief Inspector Jim Sheehan and his motley crew of detectives to find the culprit. The suspicion falls on the diverse group of high profile individuals who were attending a party that night at the deceased judge's house. According to the judge's assistant, he was also getting blackmailed.

A seedy club for members with questionable sexual tastes is also associated with the judge.

Miles deep into the dark side of the internet, a serial killer is documenting all the murderous excursions in detail. The killer goes by the name 'Nemein' and likes to use embellished language for the philosophy laden blogs.

The detectives appear to have a lot on their hands; a safe is missing, the high profile suspects refuse to budge from their story, more murders with the same modus operandi, and no forensic evidence. Until, Sheehan's partner, Sergeant Denise Stewart, discovers the grisly account of the killings on the Dark Web. Now, it's a race against time to find and protect the next victim.

I personally feel that the mark of a good mystery/thriller is when one gets so engrossed in the story, it's impossible to put it down. This happened with me in the latter half of the book, and I was really satisfied with the ending.

A lot many characters are introduced to us early into the book, but I'm very happy to note that the author, Brian O'Hare, has kindly provided introductory information about the characters and also a brief summary of all the abbreviations of the organizations and police service ranks pertaining to Northern Ireland.

The story moves at a good pace, and it is interesting to see the police working diligently while going after every little lead. One would think that with so many characters, their individual personalities would be difficult to ascertain, but they were surprisingly distinct.

I especially liked the cleverly sprinkled red herrings placed throughout the book. As a result, the reveal doesn't seem like a random individual selected primarily because of its shock value but instead an intricately designed puzzle.

The only problem I encountered was the unnecessary use of wordy sentences that interrupted the flow of the story. Words are supposed to connect the readers to the story and not intimidate them.

Profanity is used consistently throughout the book, and some graphic descriptions of violence can be triggering to certain individuals. I came across a few minor errors in the book, mainly typos and misspelled words, but nothing that marred the reading experience for me.

I would like to give The Dark Web Murders 4 out of 4 stars as it was the perfect package of crime and mystery for me. The book is recommended for mature audiences due to the themes discussed in the book as well as the graphic descriptions of violence.

Our reliance on the Internet makes this title especially appealing. I enjoyed your comment about the red herrings the author throws out to keep you intrigued. It's satisfying when you stay puzzled until the end! This looks interesting. Thanks for the recommendation!

Great review. Yes, I have reviewed it recently. I liked the thriller, and action packed mission. The suspense is marvelous to think --I mean not to think ---we can't predict until we read it thoroughly. Kudos to detective Sheehan, again!
