Review by queenllie -- The Dark Web Murders by Brian O'Hare
“I am Nemein.”
Nemein is a codename from a dark-web blogger who tells his story about the gruesome killings he is doing to his victims. He is a self-proclaimed genius who retells his murder in the most detailed yet classy way of describing how the killing was done, in a form of a blog in the Dark Web or what we also know as Deep Web. A psychopath person who thinks that killing people by his hands is a form of justice that needs to be served for those who sinned. As the victims grew more each day, having the same method of being killed, Inspector Sheehan and his team was on the run in knowing who is the real person behind the codename Nemein and his reasons for his killings.
The fourth book in the Inspector Sheehan Mystery Series: The Dark Web Murders by author Brian O’Hare is a mind-blowing, cliffhanging, and a page-turner that will keep you hunted on your seat. It is one of those modern crime/mystery/murder books that need to be acknowledged today. This story will keep you hook up from the beginning up to the last page of the book. It is so well-written to the point that you can no longer see yourself as a reader; but as a character, collecting all the clues in order to catch the real murderer.
Behind the story and the plot, there are lots of hidden lessons that will only uncover once you finished reading the book. It will also give you a heads-up and little bit of knowledge about Deep Web and how it works. It is perfect for people like me who were curious about Deep Web; but not brave enough to try it because of the danger it can bring once you recklessly dive in. As for the characters, it gave me a total headache because the number of names and their positions is too much for me to remember that I keep jumbling and forgetting who is who.
It is really fun discovering the real murderer but it is more fun knowing that you correctly guessed who the real murderer is despite of the few clues presented in the story. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because it was very satisfying and well written that you never realized you’re almost at the end of the story. Thumbs up for the author for writing and creating such a wonderful book for readers like me!
For crime/mystery/murder book lovers out there, of any age, I highly recommend this book if you want to experience a rollercoaster of a ride, and a whirlwind of your emotions that will leave you speechless at the end. So better put this story on your bookshelves and you will regret nothing! Just be mindful of the small things present in the story and make sure to remember it. As to what Inspector Sheehan says, “It’s the small things that offer pointers until a pattern eventually emerges.” So start reading this book now and have fun discovering the murderer!
