The McGruder and Carpenter families are shocked by a brutal murder and everything starts to come apart at the seams. Lovers quarrel, loyalties are questioned, lies are told and it soon becomes apparent that even the youngest family members are keeping secrets.

As both families try to assist the Boston Police in solving the murder, Bogie McGruder and his firm also focus on making sure that his sister Anne is not framed. At the same time, Bogie is starting to question his wife’s family secrets and starts digging into her past. As usual, their 4-year-old genius daughter, Isabella, does her own investigating and manages to get herself into a boatload of trouble along the way. Isabella is a very unique little girl, with a challenging personality, but she is also the glue that keeps the McGruder and Carpenter families linked together, even when they seem to be at odds over everything else. As the investigation progresses many secrets are revealed and both families are faced with unexpected truths. Will the truth tear these families apart or will they realize that loyalty is worth much more than blood?

The Girl in Red Pajamas is the third book in the “Pajama trilogy” by Chris Birdy.
The book is well written and edited to perfection. It is a lovely read with enough suspense to keep the reader wanting more. My favorite thing about this book is the wide variety of characters whose lives are so effortlessly woven together by the author. The characters are authentic and flawed, which makes them very relatable and through their daily struggles, the reader is reminded that it is our differences that make life interesting.

With so many different characters coming together in one story so realistically, it also opens up the book to a very broad audience. Different cultures, minority groups, and social groups are indiscriminately represented in this book, which makes it a unique piece of literature. Due to some profanity and scenes of a sexual nature, I would not recommend the book to any readers under the age of 18.

I can honestly say that there were no obvious errors in this book and nothing I disliked enough to merit it being mentioned in this review. This book gets a well-deserved 4 out of 4 stars from me.
