Review by Lee-Ann20 -- The Date Farm by Jack Winnick
The Date Farm: Lara and Uri Book 4 by Jack Winnick is the fourth book in the adventures of the FBI’s Lara Edmond and Mossad’s Uri Levin and it does not disappoint. The Sheik plans an attack on a mall in swanky Beverly Hills, then the same group also plans a bait and switch attack in New York. This book is full of action and plot twists that don’t quit.
In this book Lara and Uri are married, but there is little to no romantic involvement in this book. For most of it, they are separated or held captive by the Sheik’s men. For readers who are looking for an action story that is light on romance, this will work. To that point, this is also a clean read in terms of language. I did not come across any swearing. This series would be good for older tween readers who want to get into adult books, but are not comfortable with some of the language and sexual situations that come to play in those books whose audiences are older. Those readers would need to have some recognition of foreign affairs, however.
Readers who are looking for a light, airy read, this is not the book for you. This book is pretty dark, with some hints of humor. Readers of the Middle Eastern persuasion and Muslim faith may also want to steer clear of this book, as the terrorists who plot the two attacks are also Middle Eastern Muslims. I have already stated that there is very little romance in this book, so if you are looking for a romance read, there are other books that are more appropriate.
This book is very well edited. I did not come across a single spelling or grammatical mistake. This book would be appropriate for most readers, as it is very clean in the sexual and language sense of the term. Other readers, who are of Muslim faith may be offended by the portrayal of the terrorists in this book.
Overall, I would give The Date Farm: Lara and Uri Book 4 by Jack Winnick a 4 out of 4 stars. It has non-stop action but was relatively clean. There was no swearing, no sexual encounters and even the violence was not as graphic as could be which allows for a wider range of readers. I would recommend this for readers of James Patterson and Tom Clancy.
