Review by Eddy Daniel -- An Imperfect Crime
Peter Simpson and his best friend, Allister Brown, are unpublished writers. In the quest to get their books out there, Peter, Allister, and Allister's girlfriend, Sarah Parker, come up with a plan to excute the perfect crime, which is one of Simpson's unpublished books. The plan is to set up what looks like Allister's murder with all the circumstantial evidence pointing to Peter, but no body. There are also cases of six kidnappings, five murders, and a drug problem with the Sinaloa cartel, which Detective Lori Sanchez and Father Guillermo Montero tries to solve.
Will they carry out this plan? Will they be caught? Will Allister be murdered? Will they finally get their books published? How are the kidnappings, murders, and cartel related? Are they connected to the perfect crime? Read An Imperfect Crime to answer your questions.
An Imperfect Crime by Fred G. Baker is a work of fiction, and a Father Montero/Detective Sanchez mystery novel. It has 28 chapters, and contains no error. I had no problem reading the book, as it was properly edited. It contains borderline profane words and few erotic scene mentions, which makes me not recommend this book to young readers out there.
The author, Fred G. Baker, did good with this book. He went straight into the story and did not waste time with irrelevant details. The book is filled with a lot of suspense, which increased my curiousity. This curiosity made me finish reading on time. I was engaged from the first page and did not find the book boring for a second. He also did a good job with the descriptions. The action scenes were well described, and I could picture them.
Detective Lori Sanchez is my favourite character. She is brave, strong and smart. I like her friendship with Father Montero. They are the perfect duo. I like how they were determined to find out what really happened. My favourite scene is when they chased one of the drug cartel men on high speed. Another character I like is Sanchez's partner, Bordou. He always has her back. I did not like how the District Attorney used the case for his political gain. He played the political card.
One thing I learnt from this book is patience. It teaches one the need to exercise patience. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and some of these measures may not turn out right. Hence, the need to be patient. Although I did not like the ending, I am still rating this book 4 out of 4 stars. This book is really amazing, and I am recommending it to everyone. It is a good read especially for those who love suspense and mystery.
