Bag of Bones is, to me, a romantic thriller. Stephen King writes this book with exquisite details of each character, all of whom I grew attached to. This book is full of twist, and never fails to keep a reader entertained. While it is a thick book I didn't find any part of the book that drug on to a point where I almost gave up. While it may seem like there are parts that don't seem important and easy to skip--don't! every bit of text is important and plays into the entire plot.

::spoiler::

The main character is a author who becomes victim of writers block when his wife passes away. He moves to their cabin in a really small community with just a few neighbors where he befriends a local widower with a young daughter. Upon their meeting a budding romance is sparked, the child becomes attached to the main character and so does the widower. However there are forces at work which are trying desperately to keep them apart. Winds howling and dreamscapes into the past make this novel truly astonishing.

This was one of my favorites by Stephen King. My favorites are the Dark Tower series. I do like how much detail that Stephen King puts into each of his books. I just would not want him to read me a bedtime story.

Yes, I agree. Stephen King does an excellent job of providing in-depth details for each character. I do believe, however, that more details should have been given on the villan of the novel, Max Devore. While he did provide more than what most authors typically do, I felt King gave far less background and "feelings" if you will when it came to Devore. I like to be able to "think like the bad guy" ans try to picture the novel from their perspective, but felt that was difficult considering the only thing I had to go on was that he was an evil man and had been all his life. I like to know the how's and why's of each characters mindset, and found that I was unable to achieve that with Devore.
With that being said , that was basically my only qualm with Bag of Bones. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and definitely recommend for those who like a little romance mixed in with their thriller/horror/suspense novels.
