No Reprieve by Inge-Lise Goss delivers a groundbreaking, heart-racing story in a world of human-like android authorities in dystopian United States, where every day the resistance group is lead by rebels towards freedom for human beings from the grips of androids like Pellegrin, who is bent on ensuring his job of overlooking the West Coast Institutes to ensure loyalty of all. However, the human race proves to be a challenging enemy, starting with the face of a young woman and the evil mindset of Pellegrin.

Paislee Hobson returns to a world of danger when she goes undercover in Portland, Oregon to learn from within the system of the Institute and who is put under control by loyalty chips or turned android, where every step into a new room or word of conversation can mean total doom for her and her fellow allies, and her boyfriend Tate. It means abandoning her security net to trust only herself and go under the radar of another identity, which proves trickier to fake with new protocols taken by the Institute to capture the rebels and break down the resistance.

What follows next is complete fastpaced action of technology, violence, risking the lives of family, and skills for lying to survive and beat all odds against machine to stay alive-and human.

Goss creates a world of imagery and developed explanations for being an android, the drive for complete control over humans, and the cost of having empathy while beating total computer-programmed logic. Her ability to show her readers what it means to step into the scene of the character goes above and beyond being enticing and decadent.
It's a fresh take on A.I. in science fiction storytelling, giving a twist and scare to humans who hope everyday they wake up in the same conscious mind and body they work with.

Goss reveals true personal growth during a tough mission for her brave, intelligent young heroine, and how her actions impact those around her and change the outlook everyday for everyone. What was enjoyable for this novel was the continous attention given to the very details that make this world dark, light, empowering, and riveting. This novel practically represents what sitting on the edge of your seat means! No Reprieve demands attention from an audience of whoever can read, for a thrill of a novel where nothing is promised and it's all for one. Goss delivers a novel with a splendid 4 out of 4.
