The Dark Web Murders by Brian O’ Hare is a dark mystery. It exhibits the cruel mind of a psychopath serial killer, who claims to be a nemein, an instrument of nemesis! A serial killer who does not consider himself as one.

The story revolves around how the protagonist, inspector Sheehan, a highly skilled officer tries to uncover this ruthless and intelligent killer. The killer continuously questions justice and writes on the web. This is how Sheehan could unravel the mystery of the killer. However, the mystery does not solve there. The most dangerous part was the killer expected him to be discovered much sooner! And then starts the game of chase between Sheehan and the killer. The self-proclaimed nemein is continuously trying to test inspector Sheehan in several convoluted situations. There was a time when Sheehan got caught in a bind and had to make a choice. If you are thinking that the plot lost its touch in the end, then you are gravely mistaken. Because the end portrays a very deep and dark mind of the killer. I must admit the author has done a fantastic job of keeping the reader in a precarious condition.

This is my first time reading the work of Brian O’ Hare , and I am delighted that I did. In this novel, even though a huge number of characters were a down point for me, yet the plot demanded it and the author himself acknowledges it. It is not every day that you will find a thrilling novel so dark that even after you finish, the nightmares of the possibility of the existence of such characters in real society scare you!

I must also appreciate that there were no major errors that I could take notice of while reading. The fluent vocabulary which is neither too simple nor having very difficult words encouraged me to not keep the book even once! I will refer this book to anyone interested in reading a psychopath, ruthless, serial murder mystery which reflects the dark truth of our society. I assure the people if you start the book once you will not be able to hold back.

I will certainly give this book rating of 4 out of 4. I would urge every fan of murder thrillers to go through this novel. This novel was so captivating and addictive that I am indeed going for other books by the author and I would encourage everyone else too.
