Official Review: Three Times A Lady: A Short Psychologica...

[Following is the official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Three Times A Lady: A Short Psychological Thriller" by Randy Charles.]

This book is a story about a lady named Emma who is suffering from a memory loss type disorder, even though she doesn't realize it. She has been married for nearly a decade with two young girls. She starts to receive phone calls from a man she doesn't know who calls her Carly and at a supermarket she runs into a lady that refers to her as Jessa. This as well as long periods of time being blank leads her to try work out what is going on and what happened when she can't actually remember anything.

This book is a very short story, being about twenty five pages in length but it is captivating from start to finish. The story doesn't really come to an end. It abruptly finishes on a cliff hanger and before any loose ends have been tied which is probably what the author was going for but it was still a bit annoying. The story has great potential to be turned into a novel. If that were to happen, I would definitely be interested in reading it.

Due to the length of the book, the characters were vague and not very well developed, including Emma. This made them hard to relate to and there wasn't any back stories for any of the characters so it wasn't obvious how everything tied together and if there were any connections between the events.

Also everything was told from Emma's point of view and at the beginning of the book all of the events happening in the book had already been happening for quite sometime. It would have been interesting to read from her husbands point of view about Emma and her disappearing for long periods of time and then coming home as if nothing had happened. It also would have been interesting to see how her other personalities, Carly and Jessa acted.

While I did really enjoy this short story I felt that there was too much goon on for it to only be twenty five pages, especially because it didn't come to an end. There were several minor things mentioned in the book (like Emma's mother and their relationship) that would have been interesting to see played out. I really hope an extended version of this story will be written in the future because I have never read anything quite like it. I would give this book three out of four stars and I would definitely recommend it.
