Review by hazel_perez -- Shifting Sands by Barry Litherland
It all started with the ordinary journalist from The Evening Post who was told by his friend Winston about what he saw, it was a naked man in the country lane at two in the morning. He found himself intrigued by Winston's story and started to wonder what a naked guy were into with the gel and electrodes all over his body. He started to dig more information until he found out there were more than one person involved in a procedure that was kept in secret. Things started to get intense when Philip Tyler decided to dive deeper in a pool of curiosity despite uncertainties. He met a girl named Wendy who already experienced the mystery behind those walls. He also met Melissa, the girl from her past working behind those walls. For Philip, everything is unclear, and the road is full of uncertainties. However, one thing he is certain of, he wants to save Wendy. But will Melissa stops him? Did Melissa has the keys inside and just playing safe? Or she is innocent like Wendy?
Shifting Sands by Barry Litherland is a work of fiction, a mystery thriller filled with exciting, humorous drama that really entertains the reader. It is a kind of book that excites you and make you think of what will happen next. Mr. Litherland did not fail to amuse me at the same time made me adore Phil's point of view because of how unpredictable his thoughts are. It may be a mystery thriller but it also contains humor that is happening in the main character's mind that is surely relatable to most people, especially to those who are over-thinker.
The book features some action scene that can be understood and visualized by readers easily. What I love about this book is the author use simple words that can be understood easily, and even it is a story of fiction, the author was able to write and make it feel like real. He was able to create and describe the setting of the story in a detailed manner that help in visualizing the story.
So far the book was written and edited professionally, so I'm going to rate this book 4 out of 4 stars, and also because it is a kind of book that gives you the desire of finishing it and sharing to friends, since it is a well crafted book.
This book is highly recommended to those readers who love fiction, mystery thriller, action and also to those who have minds full of curiosity like the main character. If you want to read a book with the first person point of view, this is the best for you. But if you are sensitive with some cursed words, I do not recommend this, though in my opinion, it really does not distract or affect the flow of the story as well as the whole plot.
