New mystery/crime book?

I am looking for something Veronica Mars/ Murder she wrote-ish. Even American Horror Story like. I love a good mystery and something to keep you guessing..

On the general side, a few of my recommendations would be:

USA - Sue Grafton and Kinsey Millhone series (or Lisa Lutz and the Izzy Spellman series).
UK - M.C. Beaton and Hamish Macbeth/Agatha Raisin series (or Alexander McCall-Smith No 1 Ladies' Detective series).
Australia - Peter Corris and Cliff Hardy series.
Scandinavia -Liza Marklund and Annika Bengtzon series.
Ghana - Kwei Quartey and Darko Dawson series.
Singapore - Shamini Flint and Inspector Singh series.

Of course there's many more mystery books out there but apart from Agatha Christie classics, the above are similar to the Murder She Wrote style. My apologies to the countries I didn't mention!

I recently finished The Days Beyond by Wayne Roux. It's his first novel, set in current South Africa, very recommendable read!
