Official Review: Tales From the Deep End by Dean Wirth

Tales From The Deep End by Dean Wirth is a collection of a few short stories written by the author in the past. He added three new tales to the compilation. It is a fantastic and terrifying horror book.
Mr. Dean starts the book writing about some observations he made by reading and watching tons of horror content. He thinks that there are five fundamental pillars of this genre. Death, pain, alienation, things falling apart, and disease. The author then suggests some of his favorite frightening novels. I really liked that part. It shows us how passionate he is about horror. I took some notes too. I might read some of the content he suggested.
My favorite short story from this book is "Nocturne." It's about a billion-year-old and abnormal planet in the universe. A man with no name lives there alone. He often dreams about weird and mysterious people. I have to say that this story was very confusing. It didn't have a precise plot. I think it was written for the readers to evaluate the meaning of it. I don't know why this one intrigued me, but I liked it a lot. I do enjoy metaphor-type of tales.
One thing I enjoyed in this book was that at the beginning of each narrative, the author drew an illustration representing the content of it. It wasn't a direct image from the tale itself. The narration in different fictions was unique. For example, one of them was written in a journal type of narration. I also appreciated the detailed description of the scenes. It is necessary to have a specific image of what is going on in a horror book. It makes us feel more scared, and the author did a great job at that.
I give this book 3 out of 4 stars. I wouldn't give it a perfect score because I wasn't that hooked. It was just nice and fun to read. There were a lot of grammatical mistakes and typos that could've easily been avoided. I think this would annoy the readers. I strongly disrecommend it to a younger audience as it contains some scary and graphic content. There are allusions to sexual slangs but nothing more. This book also has a few swear words. I think people who like horror and who do not get easily disturbed by this genre should give this book a try.
