Book four of the Detective Sheehan Mysteries series, The Dark Web Murders, by Brian O’Hare, sees Detective Chief Inspector Jim Sheehan return, in a race against time, to catch a killer bent on vengeance. Can Chief Inspector Jim Sheehan catch the killer in time?

There are many elements that I enjoyed reading The Dark Web Murders. However, there are three elements that I liked while reading this book. The first is that readers don’t have to read the first three books to understand the plot of the fourth book. The Detective Sheehan Mysteries series seems to be episodic in nature, so readers can pick up the series at any point and not have to worry about missing too much. However, the fourth book does reference the previous books, if only briefly. The second element that I like about The Dark Web Murders is that the mystery of the killer is well written. Brian O’Hare does a great job making the reader pay attention to details to figure out who the real killer is. The third element that I like when reading the book was the fact that the suspense was real. I was at the end of my seat, figuratively, when reading this book. I just couldn’t put it down because I just had to know what was going to happen next.

When it comes to the elements that I dislike about this book, there wasn’t anything that I didn’t like. I love the plot, the setting, the characters. In fact, out of all four of the Detective Sheehan books that I’ve read, and I did read the previous three books, this one is by far my favorite.

I would give The Dark Web Murders, by Brian O’Hare a 4 out of 4. Not only was the book the best in the Detective Sheehan series, in my opinion, but it also seems professionally edited. The plot was well written and suspenseful, the details regarding the setting were vivid, and the characters were fun and a joy to read.

I would recommend The Dark Web Murders to anyone looking for a good thriller or page-turner. However, I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone who “has a weak stomach,” as the saying goes. While the book is full of suspense and mystery, there is a lot of gore and other horrors that may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who are turned off by gore and horror.
