AN IMPERFECT CRIME by Fred G. Baker is one of the most intriguing and engaging mystery you’ll ever come across. This story begins with a group of 3 friends who plan to commit a fake crime in order to gain publicity for publishing their book. But this fake crime turns into a huge mess of killings, human trafficking and drug gangs. Montero who is currently a priest and an ex-cop and Sanchez who is a detective, take over this case and try finding the root of all the murders. They have to do this undercover because a lot of politics and many laws are involved with reopening a case which was shut years ago.

The story is written in the third person tense. There is an adequate amount of profanity which makes the story enjoyable. There is also some percentage of erotic scenes. It makes the story available for the adult age groups only and should be kept away from children. The story, as a whole, shows till what extent a person can go to achieve fame and success. It is a great plot with unexpected turn of events. The way the characters have been shown is magnificent. As we approached the end, I started assuming it will be a typical ending like any other book, but it turned out to be very different.

The thing that I like about this book is that it had me hooked till the very end. There wasn’t a point where I felt as if it became boring. There were no unnecessary scenes or conversations, and the entire crime thriller turned out to be admirable. The story and the plot are very impressive. It keeps me engaged to find out “what will happen next?” and that fulfill its reason to be in the C/T/M/H genre. There were also places where various French and Spanish phrases and words were used. There were instances where we see how much power and politics affect the law and also kill innocent people at times, just for profits. It made it more realistic and relatable. There were some self questioning paragraphs like how people today, can live in cities and not even know who their neighbor's are. It just shows how much our lives have changed over the past few decades.

The thing that I do not like about this book is that there are no page numbers given, which makes it difficult to keep a track. This book also shows Mexico to be a very dangerous and negative place, which might affect the readers view about the country.

Overall I did have a good time reading the thriller. I would rate it 4 out of 4 stars. It was a great storyline. The writer has his own style of writing which is quite different but enjoyable. The build up, suspense and action scenes were written very well. Anyone who loves reading crime mysteries will definitely enjoy the book.
