The Dark Web Murders by Brian O'Hare is a thriller novel about a mysterious murderer who publishes his thoughts on a blog on the Dark Web. The book opens with the story of Kevin Lane, who got arrested for manslaughter and was subsequently killed by two other prisoners when they pushed him, causing him to smash his head against the shower wall.

The story picks up six years later when Judge Neeson is murdered at his party, followed by three other individuals. The book follows Detective Jim Sheehan and his partner, Denise Stewart. The murders are suspected to be connected to a group called “Fulfillment of the Enlighten group," who create the means for their client to fulfill their sexual fantasy, but Sheehan and his team are still baffled on the killer's motive. Using the blog, Sheehan is determined to solve the case before the killer strikes their fifth victim.

I love the energy of this book. It feels very lively and energetic and has an excellent pace to it. I also like the author to employ different literary devices like poetry, humour and satire to liven up the book. The author had done a lot of research for this book. In detail, we see how a case plays out, with an investigation starting slow, and as it progresses, you might encounter a dead-end or things that might lead to more questions.

There is nothing that I hate about this book, but I would like to give a warning. I had to stop reading a few times to take a breather because of the murder’s explicit description of the murder. It is hard reading not only the physical act of murder but the mind that stands behind these activities. It truly makes us wonder how much darkness can someone possess? The book might trigger some people as it contains violent and sexual scenes.

The book is very well-edited, and I didn’t find any errors. I give this book a 4 out of 4. The book is suspenseful like a good thriller should. It has an interesting plot and is well researched. It is hard to read such gruesome descriptions, but it is entertaining nonetheless. I won’t recommend this to the faint-hearted for the reason I mention above. It is also not a good book for anyone under 16. This is an excellent book for people who love thriller and murder mystery.
