Shifting Sands by Barry Litherland is a thrilling story about a journalist, Phil Tyler,
who decides to investigate a seeming ridiculous story he hears about a naked man walking around in the middle of the night. As he looks more into the story, he starts to see there is more to it than he could have imagined - and there are people involved who will try to stop him from investigating by any means necessary. Phil is now fighting to unravel the secrecy behind a new organization in his town while trying to keep his friends and family safe. Is there really a news worthy story here? Or is Phil making this all up?

What I liked most about this book was that it got more and more thrilling with each chapter. In my opinion, the author did an excellent job of building the suspense. When you think Phil comes to a dead end in his investigation, he finds out more information or continues to push his limits to get himself in dangerous situations. I really couldn't find anything about the book I didn't like. I thought it was exceptional from beginning to end.

I gave this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was one of the best mystery thriller's I have read. It was difficult to put down because each chapter left me wondering, "What happens next?" The author left each chapter on a cliffhanger and almost every chapter had unexpected outcomes.

Shifting Sands was professionally edited. I only found a couple errors that were repeated words that just need deleted. This book is aimed at a more mature audience, such as adults and young adults, who enjoy mystery, suspense, and thrillers. It would also be a good read for anyone thinking about going into journalism to see what it entails and investigating stories. Although one can assume this would not be a "typical day" in the life of a journalist. There is quite a bit of profanity throughout the book, although the profanity suits the characters personalities. Readers who would enjoy a quick read would enjoy this book, as it is not long.

Overall, I would definitely recommend Shifting Sands by Barry Litherland to others. It was well written and well executed. The ending was unpredictable. There were twists and turns throughout the book. The author kept the reader questioning the motives of the characters and whether or not they were trustworthy.
