An innocent man is wrongfully convicted of murder and executed. Detective Lori Sanchez of the Phoenix Police Department believes that the crime scene was too flawless to be true. Father Montero, the convicted man’s priest, vows to find out what happened. A key witness who can turn the trial around has gone missing. Father Montero teams up with Sanchez to hunt down the witness and unravel the mystery surrounding the murder trial. What begins as a manhunt, ends up muddled with multiple crimes including other murders, kidnappings, drug cartels, and flesh trade. An Imperfect Crime by Fred. G. Baker is a fast-paced thriller with multiple storylines merging into one flawlessly woven crime story.

I had no complaints about the book. The moment I started reading I was consumed by this intelligently written story. The characters are well-developed and believable. Lori was my favorite character. She is a woman of grit. The way she deals with the drug dealers and flesh-trade convicts was amazing. The author shows her soft side as a woman empathetic of the pains of other women, all the while maintaining her image as an unforgiving and tough police officer.

The one thing that I loved the most in the book was that the author has maintained the pace of narration intelligently. It is just fast enough to spike the suspense and just slow enough to let the readers grasp all the ongoing action. I recommend the readers read the book with patience and concentration as every small bit of information is a clue to solving the many mysteries in the book.

I would like to add a word of caution for sensitive readers. The book has several mentions of rape, murders, and other forms of abuse. The author has not described any scene with graphic details but even the mention of abuses faced by victims of flesh-trade can make sensitive readers uneasy. There is also a considerable amount of profanity.

I would rate the book 4 out of 4 stars. I did not find any grammatical errors in the book so I can say with confidence that the book is professionally edited. The character development is flawless. With every page, the mystery gets dense and the way it unfolds is brilliant. The ending was especially well-thought-out. I felt it was a perfect ending to hint at a second book in the series. If ever a second book was written, I would love to read it. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy crime thrillers and murder mysteries. Given the kind of topics handled in the book, I would not recommend the book to young readers and those that are sensitive.

I don't know why I've been encountering books about people wrongly convicted of murder. lol. This seems like an interesting book to read. Thanks for recommending.

I like a report with an ideal movement. Notwithstanding, the realistic idea of the book provides me opportunity to stop and think. Much obliged for a fascinating audit.

The story is exhilarating in its own accord which begs to differ , undeniably. The victim dips into a subconscious of his pre existing world . It effervescents an incomparable cloudy gesture. Substantially a leap over the cuckoo nest if need be reduced into few words . I feel sympathetic towards the naive spectrum engulfing innocent party.
