Review by GianKosi77 -- Soul Seeker by Kaylin McFarren
Kaylin McFarren's Soul Seeker is a thought-provoking, read-in-one-sitting novel about supernatural beings and the destiny of souls. The reader experiences the pain of losing a loved one, dealing with harsh realities, the battle of souls, unthinkable relationships, and a touch of hell. What puzzled me was that there is an opportunity for the demon's dark soul to find redemption and go to heaven.
Soul Seeker is a story about Crighton (the demon from hell) and a trusted firefighter hero, Benjamin Poe. Lucifer sent Crighton on earth for a soul-collecting mission. He would smell blood from his victims, individuals who have ever killed and concealed the crimes. Benjamin Poe narrates how he got into the dark demon's trap to kill his son. His son, Gabriel Poe (Crighton's target), had been involved secretly in various killings. When this dark demon destroyed Poe's life, he continued collecting many wicked souls and feeding them to Lucifer. His attention shifted when he discovered his soulmate (an angel). He escaped from hell to begin a new life. Will Lucifer pardon such rebellion from a loyal soul catcher? A further thrilling chapter began; an unimaginable romantic relationship between an angel and a demon.
Do evil human beings deserve the help of guardian angels? Should we blame dark demons for the atrocities human beings commit? Where will your soul end when you depart from this world? These are the questions that ran through my mind when I finished this well-written novel.
What a powerful and unique way to begin a story with a captivating poem! The beautiful poem at the beginning of the novel gives the reader a taste of the story. It captures one's attention and desire to go deep into the pages. I liked this aspect most as it is a rare style for novel writers. Two significant deaths in this story also touched me. The way Willkie and Poe handled their last minutes on earth was a lesson for all of us. One of them cared about the destiny of his soul; he repented of his sins before dying. The other one did not care whether he will spend his eternity in hell or not. These two characters' deaths serve as a wake-up call to individuals who believe in life after death. The whole story is intriguing, with memorable characters and plot development.
Ariel (angel) and Crighton (demon) made an interesting couple. However, the conversation that ensued between them after Crighton escaped from hell knocked me out. I felt disappointed and displeased because the author extended the talk to add no value to the story. The flow of the story became boring, and that displeased me the most.
Have you ever beheld an unbelievable scene that got you questioning your eyes like McKenna? This is the level of creativity and imagination that Kaylin McFarren employed in her novel. I believe Soul Seeker deserves an award, so I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. The book is finely edited, that it became hard to spot an error.
Although the book contains minor profanity, it is full of severe erotic content. The romantic scenes are detailed, which makes the story fit for adult readers alone. Children and teenagers should keep off at all costs. I recommend Soul Seeker to fans who love smartly-executed stories about supernatural beings regardless of their faith and religion. Although the book has the aspect of Christianity, heaven, and hell, I agree with the author that it is purely for entertainment. If you approach this book with an open mind, you will enjoy and learn several life lessons.
