Review by Fkiptoo2216 -- Without Redemption
David Griffith’s book “Without Redemption” is story about Lonnie and Paolo. Lonnie was a cowboy on the verge of winning a rodeo competition when an injury on the arm prevented him. Frederick (his boss) gives him a task of picking a parcel for him from El Chapo who is a drug baron. Paolo was a street boy who got recruited to serve as a soldier for the Sinaloa cartel; drug cartel whose boss is El Chapo. The delivery of the parcel is El Chapo’s betrayal of all other drug cartels in exchange for his freedom. The picking up of the document was to be done in conjunction with a family holiday. Lonnie’s sixth sense tells him it’s not just a holiday. He reluctantly accepts. Paolo on the other hand has become a respected member of the drug cartel for his prowess in killing and even tracking in the jungle. Things go awry when other cartels get wind of the betrayal. An attack is made immediately the transaction in complete. This makes Lonnie the prime suspect of the attack. El Chapo commissions Paolo to go after him. Paolo is keen to complete the task given to him so that he can be the most powerful and trusted soldier in Sinaloa drug cartel. This is an account of how he escaped from Paolo with many odds against him like his badly hurt arm, a baby and wife in tow, a well -armed and trained gang against him. His previous experience as an intelligence officer, a background of growing up near a forest, supportive God-believing wife(Clarissa) and the protectiveness of a father are the factors that will aid his goals. He has to decide whether it is morally right to kill to defend his family or leave it all to God.
The most appealing thing about this book is the suspense in it. I could not guess what would follow one event. The description of the events is so vivid and realistic. The book gives one a picture of how the drug cartels operate and the dangers lying in it for all involved. It was entertaining to read the relationship between Lonnie and Clarissa in the midst of danger. How they supported one another in either life or death circumstances while at the same time trying to remain morally upright.I did not find anything negative about the book. I found the description of romantic scenes comfortable.
I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars because it is a very interesting read, has no obvious grammatical errors and has a lot of new words well placed. I recommend this book for those who would like to read romantic books which have a Christian undertone. Those who wonder if God can actually recue someone in bad situation will find it interesting to read this book. Any book lover will enjoy reading “Without Redemption”.
