The Inspector Sheehan Mysteries Book Four- The Dark Web Murders by Brian O' Hare is a fictional mystery-crime and philosophical novel that dives into the digital space that is the internet. Within it lies a hidden layer called the Dark Web. Nemein, a vigilante with a narcissistic, sadistic, and psychopathic persona, commits murders grotesquely, eventually sharing the brutal acts' details to readers on the darknet. Moreover, a secret society of influential people that engage in disturbing sexual acts for their gratification is about to be exposed. Will the quick-witted Detective Sheehan and his team stop Nemein from causing more harm?

I am impressed with Brain's work despite being my first time reading one of his novels. The character development was spot-on. Though this is the fourth installment, I connected with the fictional characters while reading the story. I appreciate the complexity that the writer invested in Nemein, the main antagonist, who appears to be an average Joe going about their business. Still, Nemein's real character becomes revealed in the dark web. Nemein's perspective of justification, satisfaction, vengeance, and hate; introduces readers to a philosophical dilemma.

The book's plot was flawless. Brian truly knows how to capture a reader's attention. The beginning sub-plot may seem off to readers, but I encourage those who seek to set their eyes on this book to have a little patience, and the book will be worth their while. Therefore, I saw no plot holes. The book's narration is top-notch. Brian describes in excellent detail murder scenes that will leave you cringing. He also does not spare details when describing scenery, physical attributes, and emotions of characters, which helped set the narration's tone and mood.

The book belongs to the mystery-crime genre. Therefore, readers should be on guard to see whether they can capture the small clues spread across the novel; to unravel the mystery. However, it also strays into philosophy. Readers tap into Nemein's mind through written chronicles found on the dark web, inspiring them to empathize with the antagonist's endeavors. Expect sickening details of murders within the memoirs that, for some readers, may be hard to tolerate.

The ending of the book was mind-blowing. It left me with feelings of satisfaction, shock, and soberness. Like all mystery-crime novels, the book develops by uncovering the puzzle amidst the stack of evidence and overwhelming circumstances. Brain professionally edits his work; the few grammatical errors prove it. Bravo, I applaud the author for his exemplary work.

Therefore, I would give this book a rating of 4 out of 4. The book's plot and narration were superb. I found no plot holes or errors in the narration; on top of that, the characters were well structured. There is an indescribable element about their personas that made me connect with them. What I liked most was the juicy vocabulary used in narration that brought detail to sceneries. There was nothing that I disliked in this novel. I recommend this book to lovers of mystery-crime stories and philosophy. I do not recommend this book if you have a dislike for gory murder scenes.

This sounds like a fascinating book. A murderer sharing their kills on the internet is certainly interesting and it seems as though there is a good twist at the end
