An Imperfect Crime was a tale that constantly had me at the edge of my seat! Just when the reader thought the mystery of the missing bodies was coming to a close, another lead revealed itself. Protagonists, Detective Lori Sanchez and Father Guillermo Montero, made an uncanny yet unstoppable team. When considering their line of work, you would think it unconventional, but the unlikely duo proved their worth by reopening cases of the woman of Berkeley university, finding evidence of bodies that had gone missing years ago, and persuading famous politicians into agreeing and helping them with their plans to solve the mystery of Sarah Parker.

An Imperfect Crime is action-packed, filled with adrenaline scenes and high-speed chases. I admired how Fred G. Baker was able to create such a detailed storyline. Each character had a backstory or brief background of where they came from. I personally found Montero to be very interesting, as he had previously been involved with the police, but completely switched up his entire life and became a priest. His backstory seems to go deeper than any other character.

I absolutely love how Baker captured this story justifiably and critically, leaving no room for confusion. It felt like I myself was also figuring out a mystery. It wasn't necessarily predictable, but Baker allowed the reader to see the clues and come to their own conclusion just before the truth was revealed! I felt like a detective! There were moments where I was speechless and in denial, feeling great sympathy for the characters. The book was just so well thought out, concise, and exceptionally well-edited. An Imperfect Crime rests on my 'Top Books' shelf and I have no dislikes for it whatsoever.

I give it 4 out of 4 stars, as the book used great diction and a wide vocabulary. It was such a good read that I wasn't able to put it down. It got more and more interesting as it went on. I am not a fan of crime reads, but Baker definitely got me hooked!

An Imperfect Crime is suitable for 16-year-olds and upwards. People that are accustomed to police work or are curious will enjoy the read. Baker breaks down the procedures that take place in a detective's environment when dealing with a case. He also dives into the world of drug dealers and kidnapping schemes. A curious audience will learn a great deal of reality through fiction.
