Kick is a great book. John L. Monk did a great job with making the book easy to follow and interesting. This book makes you think twice about what could happen to you in the after life. Dan Jenkins has been dead for years and as a ghost he gets to live again by doing favors for the Great Whomever. Be that as it may he has never met the Great Whomever and doesn’t know if it is God or someone else in general.

Dan gets to live for a while, but with chains attached. When he goes back to the real world he usually ends up the body of a criminal. Most of the time, the body, is one of a Murder. He gets none of their memories and has no clue about how the person acts, talks, or the people the person may know. He has to “play it by ear” and figure it out on his own. When it comes time for him to return to the get Where Ever he gets “kicked” from the body he is possessing or has to destroy it. He makes use that the men he “rides” in get what they deserve for what they have done.

The first “ride” you go on with Dan, he is a biker who is in a club called the Howlers. The Howlers are criminals and although he doesn’t know what they have done in the past but he knows that they kill people and rape women. It is his job to make things right and he has to stop the valiance no matter the out come.

The next “ride” is a man who stabbed someone at the beach. Come to find out the guy had hidden bodies in a beach house. After cleaning up the bodies he buried them in a shallow grave. To make things worse this body was addicted to meth so he spent a great deal of time with with-drawl symptoms. So sick and starving he took off in search of food just to find more dead bodies in the house across the yard.

You go on more “rides” with Dan, but I do not wish to tell you the whole story. I give Kick 4 out of 4 stars. It is very well written and an interesting read. There are no grammatical or spelling errors that come to my attention and Monk really knows how to make a page turner.

This book does not sound like a book I would not enjoy. After I read the review I am sure it sounds like a good story but not just for me.

This looks really interesting, and I've actually looked at the book before. I just downloaded the author's short story Fogland: House Call on Queasy street for free. If I end up liking it I will definitely buy this book next.
