Soul Seeker is an adult fantasy fiction novel by Kaylin McFarren. The book mainly follows the perspectives of Benjamin Poe and Crighton. The story starts with Poe in jail for the crime of murdering his son. Poe decides to narrate to his lawyer the unusual events leading up to him murdering his son Gabriel.

Poe’s life was ordinary even though he had a strained relationship with both his wife and son. After a fire burns down the College Inn, Poe begins to suspect his son’s involvement. After a mysterious stranger called Crighton comes to town, things start going downhill for Poe.

The second half of the book follows Crighton’s perspective. Crighton is Lucifer’s best soul catcher. When Lucifer tasks him with a mission to capture an angel of high power, he assumes it will be a mission like any other. However, the mission takes a turn for the worst. Crighton and Ariel, the celestial angel he had caught, are captured by humans. While in captivity, Crighton and Ariel discover that they are soulmates. Will they be able to have their own happily ever after? Can Crighton right the wrongs he had made and redeem himself? You will have to read on to find out.

One of the things I liked about this book was how well written it is. The book is wonderfully sequenced. Although it may seem like events in both parts may not be connected, they are. Readers will not have a problem catching up with new characters and occurrences in the story. It is because they are well-explained by the author.

Another thing I liked about this book is the fact it had significant character development. In part one, Crighton came across as cold, manipulative, and just plain evil. But in the second part, we can see him remorseful for his actions and less inclined to evil doing. I think his development throughout the story allows readers to connect better with his character.

I also like the unpredictable nature of this book. I genuinely could not tell what was going to happen next in this story. The suspense of not knowing and the plot twists are what I think made the story was so gripping.

I enjoyed reading Soul Seeker. I cannot say that there was anything that I disliked about this book. The story is interesting and wonderfully written. I came across very few errors that were minor and did not detract from the general reading experience. Therefore, I can say that the book is edited professionally. I am therefore going to be giving Soul Seeker a 4 out of 4 stars rating.

In my opinion, Soul Seeker is a book that is more suitable for a more mature audience. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy mystery thrillers as well as paranormal romance novels. I would not recommend this book to readers who are squeamish about murder and death scenes in stories.

I would wonder about the circumstances that would force a mother to murder her own son. In many circumstances this may be because of mental problems. Nice review.
