A Woman Scorned by Marilee Brothers is the first installment in its series. It revolves around a humorous local family that works at a golf course, where unusual occurrences like mysterious deaths keep happening. Mystery, murder, family, and teamwork are among the themes promoted in this volume. The author blends humor and spot-on dialogue to concoct a treat for the readers.

Libby McKenna manages the Fairway to Heaven golf course with the help of her daughter and a crew of employees. As a single mother, she works overtime trying to keep her elderly father out of danger. Having made a name as loquacious, Libby passes along local gossip about the golf course proceedings to the residents. Libby has to keep up with her daughter Sofia, who’s working on the groundskeeping crew during the summer, because she seems intent on proving the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Sleuthing begins when the murdered body of the chairman of the board is found on the golf course. With the help of Riley O’Connor, the new sheriff, they’re determined to solve the murder mystery.

This book is a delightful blend of everything you’d want in a book- murder, mystery, and gossip. I thoroughly enjoyed devouring this book. To enumerate what I specifically appreciated, I’d start with the memorable characters. Despite her side personality, Libby was a fierce, witty, attractive, and industrious lady who kept the golf course running in spite of the ups and downs of business. Then there are fanatical neighbors, resentful golfers, and dubious employees who combine to help achieve a culminating end. Additionally, the descriptive writing was worth noting. I could create a picture of a character’s physique and dressing by the narrator’s words; they are quite vivid.

This book is packed with twists, surprises, and suspense from the beginning until the end. It starts with an introduction of the characters and then immerses you in a murder puzzle that keeps you rooted to your seat until the end. With the murder of the golf course chairman, several questions kept pondering in my mind: Who’s next? Who committed the offense? Why did he/she/they do it?

A Woman Scorned by Marilee Brothers was an enthralling piece, with miscellaneous characters that might or might not have massacred the chairman. With layers of intrigue and enigma, I recommend this masterpiece to audiences who enjoy reading books with mystery-related themes. There were no grammatical typos; therefore, this book is exceptionally well edited. As I did not find anything to despise, I rate it four out of four stars.

Great review! This sounds like a real page turner. I’m glad the author includes good humor, even though this is a murder mystery. It’s always good to find a mystery that really keeps you guessing, but also isn’t too dark.
