Official Review: Emergence by Shira Shiloah
Emergence by Shira Shiloah is a crime thriller revolving around the medical field that will make the reader think twice before having their next surgical procedure. Dr. Roxanne Roth is an anesthesiologist studying to take her oral exam to become certified. The single doctors are attracted to her beauty, but dating makes her feel guilty about her fiance that died from complications of an appendectomy five years ago. Several of her patients have surgery performed by Dr. D. K. Webb, whom she had met in medical school. These patients die shortly after their surgeries, and Dr. Roth thinks these deaths are not accidental. She notices that Dr. Webb appears to be drugged, sweaty, and does not accept assistance while doing the surgeries, and he never responds to phone calls or pages post-op when the patients have complications. Dr. Roth and Resident Doctor Justin Kirkland initiate an investigation by sending a letter to the state medical board and the medical executive review committee about Dr. Webb. What will this investigation reveal? Is Dr. Webb deliberately murdering patients? You will need to read the book to find out.
There were several aspects of this book that I liked. Firstly, the author’s descriptions of the characters and their demographic surroundings made me feel like I was there. I could feel the doctors, the patients, and the patients’ family’s emotions. I could feel the cold in the operating room. Secondly, the plot flowed smoothly and was action-packed. Thirdly, the author did not show any discrimination between the female and male doctors. The villains were the only ones portrayed to feel superior to the other characters. Finally, the book tugged at my emotional state while I was reading. I found myself laughing, getting angry, and scared throughout the book. I find any book that makes me emotional to be an enjoyable read.
There was nothing I disliked about this book. There were no distractions to my reading the book as there were only two small errors in the entire book. Once I started reading the book, I had a hard time putting it down.
I believe this book was edited by a professional. There were only two minor errors that could have easily been missed by an editor. I gladly give this well-written book 4 out of 4 stars.
I recommend this book to adults over the age of 18 who like crime thrillers along with romance. The sexual content is not overly graphic, but it is not appropriate for younger readers. There is some borderline profanity, but it will probably not be offensive to most readers. I do caution anyone getting ready to have a surgical procedure about reading this book while waiting.

My first impression is on the description of characters and not forgeting the demographic surroundings, well detailed..
I love the fact that the review leaves you with so much curiosity on whether Dr Roxanne deliberately killed her patients or not.. it's definitely a good strategy to use to make people to read your content.
Much appreciated for the review.
