Andy Mcnab - Nick Stone series

I have a question about the Nick Stone series.
I am currently on book 5 but in book 3 (Firewall) Nick is given $3 million dollars in Real Estate in Russia by a Russian mafia kingpin.
What happened to this wealth ? In the 2 books after Firewall he is still broke?
why ?
