The Midas Effect is a science fiction book written by Manuel Dorado. The book talks about quantum inflexors who are people who have mental powers with the most powerful of them being known as a Midas who has the ability to change reality with his imagination. Miguel Le Fablec is an aerospace researcher who gets a chance to work for a university in California. While working there he meets Monica who works for the same university that he does. He befriends her. Unknown to him Monica works for a team of NASA scientists who suspect that he is a Midas and want to recruit him to be a test subject using Monica as the lure. While the scientists want him for scientific reasons the CIA wants to recruit him for their use in the military. Miguel must find a way to control his newfound abilities while protecting himself from the ambitions of those who want to use him.

I found The Midas Effect to be an interesting book that provokes the reader to wonder if there is any power in your imagination. It is well written with the plot being well-paced such that it was hard to put the book down wanting to find out what would happen next. I found no grammatical or spelling mistakes in the book which lead me to conclude that the book was exceptionally well-edited and I must commend the author for this.

Although I found the book interesting there are some things that I did not love about the book. One of them was that there are some instances where the book uses a different language and does not offer a translation. I think that it would be beneficial if the author found a way to integrate the English translations. The instances are however few and don’t remove the reader from the flow of the story.

Despite the few negative aspects of the book, I found the book to be an interesting and addictive read. Due to the fact that the negative aspects of the book do not change the flow of the story I chose not to remove any stars and therefore give it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.

I would recommend this book to people who love Science Fiction and techno-thriller books. The book however has erotic content and I would therefore not recommend it for the younger audience.
