Clint Kennedy is a nice, good-looking young man who had lost his parents earlier in life. Like every other human, he needs to survive. I wouldn’t say he is a criminal outrightly, but his quest to live a comfortable and influential life made him who he is.

Money Faucet by Joe Calderwood, the number two in the series, is a high pacing book that unravels the secret life of Clint Kennedy. Clint, who called himself a criminal, was on his way to Florida to check on Mr. David Cohen, who was reported to have a stroke. While in Florida, he realized he was appointed a legal custodian of Mr. Collier, his friend’s father. Clint must ensure Mr. Collier receives better care in the adult home before leaving. However, the drug Lord he was working with, Pablo, called him not to come back to Mexico because there was a cleanup taking place, and he can’t guarantee his safety. Who is sponsoring the cleanup? Will everything be alright with his business after the cleanup? Find out in this book.

The author’s strength lies in his description. The way he used the whole senses to describe characters and places of events was so exceptional. It created an urge in me that made me feel like I am watching a movie. The seamless transition of chapters added to the intriguing feelings. It doesn’t make reading the book boring at all. It made me flip through the pages without checking the time.

I observed that the book chapters were arranged in such a way that it could confuse the readers because they were not separated from the narrations’ bodies. If the chapters started on a new page, it would have given it a better outlook. However, the author developed each character to match the whole story, as that was one thing I like about the book. There was a vivid description of each character that readers won’t forget their roles quickly. Because of very few errors encountered in the book, I could say the book is professionally edited. Hence, I will rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.

As much as I like the author’s description power, the way the author described the accident and murder scenes gave me goosebumps. For example, “…the head – what was left of it; what wasn’t spattered on the fake oak paneling behind the ugly desk…” The description of these scenes was so graphic. It could annoy some readers who can’t withstand it. Even though the book is the second of the series, it is suitable as a standalone.

There was nothing I disliked about the book. Because of its strong drug theme, I will recommend the book for people above twenty. And also for people who love crime books.

I sampled this book and recognize that gory scene you mention. That was my clue that this book was probably too graphic for me. :D Thank you for a wonderful review. I’m glad you enjoyed the read.

As a fan of crime thrillers and such, this book sounds like one I'd probably enjoy. That it is a character driven narrative is also a bonus to see. Nice review there, thanks. :techie-reference:

Sounds interesting, I love characters that are in a grey area, like Clint Kennedy who is not exactly a criminal but not a model citizen either. Great review.
