A prominent figure is found brutely murdered in his home. The last to see him is an unlikely group of companions--none of which seem keen to talk to the police or to share their common agenda. To make matters worse, a mysterious blogger claims to be the culprit and is releasing details of the crime online while leaving behind no actual evidence. As more victims are discovered, the motif becomes increasingly elusive. How can Inspector Sheehan discover the killer when there are more questions than clues?

The Dark Web Murders by Brian O'Hare is the fourth book in its series. O'Hare kindly includes a list of characters and a glossary of terms at the beginning of the book. I found that I was still able to read along without referencing these, but it did take me a moment to familiarize myself with the characters and their names. This is the first and only book that I have read from the series. I did not feel that I was missing any relevant information by skipping the previous books.

There were several main characters, but I enjoyed the different personalities and perspectives that each offered. I wish that I could have gotten to know all of them a little bit more. O'Hare also allowed the killer to share their point of view without betraying their identity.

The killer's blogs were a bit wordy, but reasonably so. The rest of the book moved along quickly without any stalling and with very little unnecessary filler content.

There was nothing in the book that would deter me from reading it, however, there were a few instances that I had to skim through. If you have a weak stomach for injuries, you may want to read cautiously when the deaths are being detailed. Also, if you are an animal lover, there are a couple of mentions of a sad moment that you may want to skip over.

This is a great book for crime lovers who enjoy solving a mystery. There are several suspects to consider, and the author allows the reader time between delivering the clues and having the characters point them out. Because of the gory descriptions, mentions of sexual assault, and some darker sexual themes, I would recommend this book for mature audiences.

I am giving The Dark Web Murders a full 4 out of 4 stars. It is well-written and well-edited. Between the book's fast pace and the reader-friendly mystery, it is hard to stop reading. I am looking forward to completing the series.
