For ten years Copper led a lonely life and sheltered himself by using the alias of Cold Stone. At the age of eighteen he left his hometown of Salem, Massachusetts and never looked back— that is until he received stunning news about his mother. Cooper made a great effort to ignore information even though it was clear he needed to return to his hometown. Ironically his plan was foiled. His boss called and told him that he had been assigned to do a story about the very area Cooper was trying to steer clear of.
After he made several attempt to avoid the assignment, Cooper relented and made his way to Massachusetts. To maintain a low profile, he checked into a bed and breakfast just outside of Salem. When he entered the cozy hotel, the front desk clerk seemed to recognize him. He became a little unnerved but was relived when she guessed he was a paparazzi. He looked at a few pamphlets to seem like a tourist. Little did he know that the stranger, who handed him his room key, would soon join him on a journey that would help him uncover the secrets of his family’s menacing past.
I absolutely loved reading this eBook. It is well written, funny and thoroughly entertaining. The humor is witty, and its solid story line flowed smoothly. This story was very suspenseful, and J. R. Richardson masterfully handled the element of mystery by providing sumptuous morsels of information that continuously piqued my interest. She addressed the issues of addiction, redemption, and coming to terms with the past with sensitivity and finesse.
Some parts of the story were easy to predict, but it was the type of predictability that I like. I was able figure out some of the things that happened, but at the same time, I didn't know all of the secrets that would eventually be revealed. It was great that every one of Cooper’s family secrets were secret until it was time for them to be divulged.
The author did a great job when she developed her characters. My favorite character was Finn. She was smart, sassy—and the woman wasn't afraid to stand her ground. Beneath her feisty exterior was a heart of gold. I also liked the way J. R Richardson wove her own experience as a travel writer into Cooper’s character.
I would give this story a 3.85 out of 4 stars if it were possible. I felt that the author should have gone into more detail about what happened in the past between Cooper and his aunt. Also, it seemed that the author was a bit timid when she wrote the intimate scenes. There were a few times that I wished the characters were given a little more time to linger in their love.
I have to admit, when I saw the cover of this book I said “Uh oh!” I just knew that I would come across a passage in the book that would include descriptive phrases such as “blossoming bosoms” and/or “bulging biceps”. I’m very happy to say that I was wrong to judge this book by its cover. The story made me laugh and chuckle a lot as I read it. By the time I reached page 55 I declared “I’m a fan!” which is why I have given Cursed Be the Wicked a formal rating of 4 out of 4 stars.

I am so happy that you are pleased with the review. Thank you! It was a privilege to read your book. I have read Cursed be the Wicked two times. Sorry it took so long for the review to be posted. It turns out that it was posted in one of the forums instead of on the review page. I actually re-wrote the review and submitted it a few times because I thought that there was something wrong with it. Hopefully your book will become a forum topic. I will email you to talk more about the book. Congratulations!!!!
