Glasslady by Jane Whitehouse is a fictional crime thriller about a brutal murder and the victim’s soul, which goes on to haunt people. The writer creates an atmosphere of suspense, tension, and emotion through the language and the narrative techniques she utilizes.

The author begins by introducing Grace, the central character of the story. Grace was born to two loving parents, named Alberto and Norma. Unfortunately, Norma’s second baby girl was born dead, so the family decided to adopt a four-year-old child, called Rose. Rose grew up to be a rebellious and mentally unstable woman. In fact, she was so jealous of Grace’s excellent school achievements that she tried killing her with a steak knife in the kitchen. Thus, even though Grace tried to show Rose love and acceptance, Rose turned out to hate Grace. Rose entered the life of prostitution and drugs, as she met a cruel psychopath, named Billy, who used to be a boxer. Billy knew how to manipulate women, while Rose also knew how to seduce men with her attractive looks. What are Billy and Rose up to?

This novel had a few high-quality elements in it. More specifically, the author found ways to make the story’s plot creative, as she used her imagination effectively to create an original and unique book. What I liked most about this story was that it was very exciting and interesting since the author utilized plot twists and cliffhangers to add suspense and thrill to the text.

Nonetheless, there were also many negative characteristics in this book. To begin with, the novel was dotted with grammatical, punctuation, and typographical errors, which highly undermined the author’s status. Furthermore, the storyline was too unrealistic in some cases, which means that the writer should have created a plot that was closer to a real-life scenario to make the novel more authentic. What I disliked most about this book was that the writer jumped from one event to the next without adding enough coherence. The novel’s structure was disorganized, as the author failed to even add chapters in this story.

This novel will be mostly liked by lovers of crime thrillers. Young readers and readers who cannot tolerate graphic violence and sexual descriptions are not suited to read this book. Readers of all religions, as well as atheism, may enjoy this book.

In summary, I give this book a score of 2 out of 4 stars. I did not give the book a higher score because it was unprofessionally edited, unsatisfactorily structured, and unrealistic. However, a lower score would not be justified because the writer made the novel original and suspenseful.
