Official Review: The Tiger's Eye by Scott Delaney
The book The Tiger’s Eye: Angels in Mumbai is the second book in the Global Calling series. Author Scott B. Delaney has done a fantastic job so the book can be read as a stand-alone book without any difficulty. The plot of the book leads the reader into the near future and the exoticism of modern India. The focus is on the Global Calling Organization, an organization for the promotion of evangelism and its conflict with a tradition raised to the level of extremism.
The author convincingly depicts modern India and the challenges that one of the most populous countries in the world is facing. The constant contrasts on the East-West relation stands out, of course from the occidental position. The pace of the action is especially interesting. After an effective introduction, the narrative takes readers back to the recent past, where the plot begins to develop slowly. Page after page, the pace of the action accelerates so that at the very end, the tension and raw action reach their culmination. Will the Global Calling Organization succeed in resisting radical Islamists? Will justice and civilization triumph over terror?
What I particularly liked about The Tiger’s Eye: Angels in Mumbai are the well-designed characters. Each of the characters, both main and secondary, has their own life story, habits, family, friends, colleagues, fears, ambitions. The dedication and attention of the writer to a character are in great proportion to the importance of that character for the plot of the book. Also, in my humble opinion, the author did a great job describing India. Men, women, and children of all ages and classes, as well as culture, tradition, and everyday life are described with incredible credibility. The book is well-organized and very well-edited, which makes it pleasant to read. The author also deserves congratulations for the excellent use of symbols.
I have almost no objections to the book. If the book were analyzed very strictly, the author could be criticized for the somewhat stereotypical portrayal of the local population. Also, some illogicalities in the plot of the book can be noticed. An example of this would be a situation when not only police officers but also civilians spoke about the identity of a protected witness completely freely and openly.
Because of all the above, deciding how to rate The Tiger’s Eye: Angels in Mumbai was pretty easy. My final judgment is to rate the book with four out of four stars. Cleverly designed dialogues in the right places, well-conceived characters, and vivid descriptions are what make this book deserve the highest rating.
Fans of books full of action, descriptions of exotic landscapes, readers who cannot imagine life without stories about distant cultures, and all lovers of good books will certainly want to set aside time and money for this book. However, I am not sure if this book would be well-accepted by the more traditional population of the Indian subcontinent.

The author is well acquainted with Indian culture and, perhaps more importantly, has managed to convey it on paper and reach readers. I'm glad you liked the review.PeterRabitt20 wrote: ↑23 May 2021, 09:17 It's great that the author was able to describe the culture, albeit from an occidental viewpoint. It seems to have served the story right. Great review!
