Black Chalk

I have just finished reading Black Chalk by Christopher J. Yates, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I downloaded the novel as an e-book, so I am not sure if the layout was the same in the printed version, but if it was then it was laid out in quite a unique style. The chapters were labelled unconventionally and varied in length from several pages to, in some cases, simply one paragraph. It also jumped backwards and forwards from a third person account to a first hand one. Although I found this confusing at first, once I became involved with the story and the characters it turned out to be extremely gripping. The twist at the end came as a surprise, leading to a satisfying conclusion. It was a fascinating read and certainly worth the effort.
