Review of Soul Seeker
Soul Seeker by Kaylin McFarren opens with the sensational case of Benjamin Poe, who ends up murdering his only son, Gabriel. How cruel he is, isn't it? But what if some other dark hands behind it tricked Poe into the murder? What if the dark hands are of a demon? Would it be possible for him to feel guilty for his crimes?Whatever their souls were made of, they were the same.
Bonded for all eternity, sharing the greatest gift of being loved by
one another.
Crighton, the demon being the protagonist and antagonist of the story, buys in our hatred in the first part and sympathy in the second. He torments the life of Benjamin Poe and his family for seeking the evil soul of Poe's son. Crighton is the best soul seeker of Lucifer. In the latter part of the story, Lucifer asks him to bring the soul of an angel. While he was on his mission, he was trapped by a group of scientists for experimentation, along with a young angel, Ariel. Crighton is torn between his loyalty to Lucifer and his love for Ariel. What will happen if Lucifer comes to know it? What challenges will Crighton have to face? Would Crighton and Ariel be able to live happily ever after or will they meet a tragic end?
The book starts as a crime thriller but becomes a suspense-filled romance as the story unfolds. While the first part made us sweat and shiver, the second part made our eyes bulge with unexpected twists. Even with the surprising turnout of events, the author ensured that the subplots never deviated from the main storyline.
The book is written in simple language and is easy to comprehend. It keeps you stuck to the pages till the very end. I was impressed by the way each character, no matter how cruel or how sweet, went through ups and downs in their life. Of course, the forbidden love story made the essence of the whole book.
The sudden turnover of the plot from the first to the second part of the book is something I disliked. But in the end, everything fell into the right place. The portrayal of the demons and angels was also not up to the mark. They seemed weak despite the supernatural powers they possessed.
Overall, there is a sense of love, betrayal, sacrifice, evil, and right in this book. It cannot be rated any less than 4 out of 4 stars for the smooth flow of the plot and professionally edited. I would recommend this book to all those who love horror, crime, romance, and fantasy themes. Due to the erotic content and the use of profanity in the story, it would not be appropriate for young readers.
