Written by Karen Black and Matt Walton respectively. A Geotechnical Engineer named Gregory McGregor is the major protagonist in this book titled "Tinman". An excellently plotted thriller rivetingly set and centered across some northern and western states in the United States. The book's cliche storyline is about corporate crime and murder in an urban and industrial setting, focusing on an unrest within a certain organization called TINMAN, inc. An interwoven network of international criminals and industrial conglomerates see Gregory McGregor intertwined with complex characters through unexpected events that turn dangerous too often in this book. Based in Minnesota, Gregory is on his way from Saint Paul to Los Angeles, California, to see an old friend and colleague on request. He finds himself in deadly altercation against an unknown network of organized criminals within legitimate organizations, an ubiquitous circle of a powerful but sinister set of bourgeoisie and high earning proletariat. Even he might not be able to fulfill his journey alone and luckily for him he meets another unique character named Corky and they fall in love. But Gregory must also be weary of this unknown criminal organization and it's geographical reach that stretches terrifyingly across the North American continent. In a situation where the ugly reality of turmoil constantly places Gregory and his accomplices in a state of catch 22, he keeps trying to decipher the motives of his adversaries in the heat of confusion and danger while simply trying to stay alive. No one can be trusted. When Gregory meets his old friend and colleague, he finds out that the construction firm they work with called TINMAN, inc. is facing public issues and problems from within as well.

The book's storyline is very intriguing, mainly due to the intense suspense it puts it's readers through, especially when the protagonist couple temporally separate from each other or suddenly get betrayed by an unsuspected acquaintance. I do feel the characters get what they truly deserve for their clarity and for their lapses and I like that as well. I also enjoyed the storyline's moral in corporate loyalty and trust. It is also interesting that the book is almost completely about organized crime in reputable environments and the identities of such top members of this criminal organization or organizations are not hinted right until the end. I also love the latter war against drugs theme.

Except the long wait the book put me through before I finally found out what was actually going on behind the crime scenes, I was only irritated by how quickly the main character was able to partially bury the memories of his dear dog too soon. Also, within the storyline of the book's fictional world, I did not like the fact that conglomerates or businessmen would go out of their way to harm other investors accidentally or deliberately just to meet up with industrial standards and demolish competition.

I have to rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. Nevertheless, the book was professionally edited and it cannot possibly be rated less considering one writer started the book and another synchronized the story's end adeptly.

Organized crime genre readers will enjoy this book, readers basically from 16 to 80 years of age will understand the entirety of the plot, theme and setting. I strongly recommend this book to fans of drama, crime, romance and suspense/thriller novels.
