Duplicity by Fin C Gray follows the story of a family that starts to fall apart due to the effect of a tragic event. Tom and his son, Daniel, have different ways of coping with this tragedy. Tom starts drinking and misusing alcohol. On the other hand, Daniel resents Tom and hates his bad drinking habit. Moreover, he treats Tom with cruelty and does some horrible things to him. Many events lead Daniel to have a stone-cold heart that is filled with hatred. However, he meets Waqar, and his life changes completely and takes an unanticipated path. This is a story that shows us that no one is born evil. Furthermore, it talks about some important topics, such as terrorism, parenthood, and alcoholism.

This book was a very engaging and fast-paced read. Moreover, it was interesting to read about how terrorists think and why they act the way they do. I also liked how the author transitioned smoothly between the different timelines without it being confusing. Gray effortlessly switched between the past of the characters and the current events. Moreover, I liked how complicated some characters were. For instance, Tom was a character that I disliked and sympathized with at the same time. In addition, I hated Daniel a lot, but I could understand that what he had gone through was unbearable.

I found a few minor errors throughout the book; however, they didn’t bother me while reading. Therefore, I can say that the book was professionally edited. There wasn’t anything I disliked about the book. Despite the book being a very dark story, it was engaging and thought-provoking.

I rate Duplicity 4 out 4 stars. The story was easy to follow, and I liked the writing style. Not to mention, the author succeeded in making the book an enthralling read. I also liked the character development, as Gray added depth to the characters, and I could relate to their emotions.

Fans of dark stories will like this book, as it talks about abuse, illness, suicide, and very gruesome acts. However, I wouldn’t recommend people who are sensitive to such content to read this book. Lovers of psychology will also like this book and find it interesting. The book shows us the past of the main characters and shows us the struggles they went through that resulted in them acting the way they do now. Moreover, readers get to see how the characters think and cope with circumstances. The book contains profane language, sexual content, and violence, and therefore, I don’t believe it is suitable for young readers.

Very good review. I also enjoyed the book as much as you admit in your review. I also awarded it all the stars. I was also fascinated by the terrorist angle included in the book as you also point out. Superb review for a superbly written book.
