Review of Alice In Dreamland
Alice In Dreamland by Roland S. Jefferson Is a political/crime thriller that tells the story of how a secret Alice plan from a group of political elite became Issue of national security. The Alice plan took a downturn when congressman Linford Ritchie's encrypted USB flash drive was stolen by pepper, a black prostitute. Knowing they have been compromised, the 13 member 'Alice Committee' with Methias Crandal as the de-facto chairman held an Impromptu meeting to deliberate on how to recover the stolen USB flash drive. The USB flash drive contains the secret Alice plan, whose objective Is to relocate most of the white, English speaking population to 'Alice Spring' In Australia, In the event of changing US racial demographics. The spotlight Is now on pepper, seeing she was In mortal danger, she turned to a colleague 'Moonglo' a white prostitute for help. It was Moonglo that recommended she hire Terry C. Taylor an ex-detective as a bodyguard.
Pepper and Taylor could not be anymore different. Pepper, a prostitute, a product of failed and abusive childhood while Taylor, an ex-detective, an alcoholic with a disability and a failed marriage. The ensuing dialogue between this characters makes this book a must read.
Alice In Dreamland Is a compelling book. From the book's narratives, I get this feeling I was reading excerpts from a real crime scene. The book Is professionally well written, with clear motives of what the author Is trying to portray. I like every chapters of the book, they are well organized and suspense filled. I also like the author's meticulous description of not just the characters, but the environment In which they operate. I easily connect with Taylor, because I know his personality, mannerism and his immediate surrounding, same applies to all characters In the story. With great attention to details, Roland S. Jefferson was able to layout every events In the story Including the Alice plan document.
One of the positives I picked from this story Is that we can complement each other Irrespective of our shortcomings. For instance, Pepper and Taylor are quite the opposite. Taylor resented pepper and was reluctant to help. Pepper on the other hand,Is a courageous character, faced with adverse circumstances, her street-wise sense played a major role In her ability to deal with challenging situations, especially dealing with Taylor. When she faked her death, and got her half-sister Carmen involved. That became the catalyst for Taylor to act.
As I read through the book, I discover the author has other qualities that reflected In the makeup of the book (technicality). Amidst the sequence of events that took place, I cannot help but mention the role the characters Eddie Wong and Gardner Battle played In breaking the coded document, that brought technicality to the book. The concluding part of the story Is equally as refreshing as the beginning. Here again, the author captures the relationship between Pepper and Taylor and although those barriers existed, they learn to work together to achieve their common goal by averting a major national crisis.
There Is nothing I dislike about the book. However, It contains profanity especially the first two chapters of the book. I also found few typo errors as well as very few grammatical errors, for a book with a page length of 340, this things are bound to happen. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The book Is high quality with many positives the readers can learn from. Therefore, I recommend this book for fans of political/crime genre and for aspiring writers. I personally enjoy the historical context and the current trend In the United State racial demographics.
