Pancake money by Finn Bell is a thriller story. The setting of the novel is in New Zealand. The story is about retired Catholic priests who were murdered in a horrific manner.The theme of story is pain.

The story begins with how detective Bobby Ress and his partner pollo Latu were trying to solve a murder case and find out the identity of the person that killed priest Maurice. While still trying to find Priest Maurice killer, another priest was murdered the following day. Bobby and Pollo became so interested in the case. They wanted to know the motive of the killer and why the killer would kill retired Catholic priests in such a gruesome manner. Is it for sex, money or power? Are the death caused by an individual or group?

The book also talked about family, friendship, religion and culture. The author explained the culture of the Maori people. In the forensic psychology class, Bobby's teacher talked about the psychology of pain. Pain can be physical or emotional and pain changes behavior. Too much pain comes with a price.

I enjoyed reading the book apart from the graphic scenes in the book. I learnt a lot of things while reading the book. I didn't find any grammatical error while reading the book. I rate it 4 out of 4

I recommend the book for anyone interested in crime fiction. The book is worth reading.
