Demon Freaks is a horror and humorous novel by J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison. It is narrated from a third-person point of view by the author. It has a fascinating and well-built storyline. It is divided into twenty-two chapters. I enjoyed the psychic abilities learnt by some of the characters and how they used them.

Ron Slaughter and Bing Slaughter are identical twins. They look-alike but do not behave in the same way. Bing wants to become a movie director. He is focused on his studies. Ron is troublesome and stubborn. He is not focused on his studies. They are in a music band with Meat and Kaitlyn. Meat is as troublesome as Ron. Kaitlyn has passion for bathing and is always late in everything she does. Their history teacher, Brom, dislikes them. One night when they are preparing for a SAT test Brom appears with a dagger with special powers. There is a sacrifice going to be performed with this dagger. Who is going to be sacrificed? Who is going to sacrifice? Who should save him/her from being sacrificed?

The things that I liked most about the novel were the author's descriptions. The physical appearances of characters are well described. The scenes are also well described. This enables the reader to draw vivid images of what the author is talking about. The communications between the dagger and human minds are intriguing. It is a horror novel but it is not scary. Some parts were humorous and I could not control my laughter.

The author makes reference to popular movies like Lords of the Ring while describing some parts of the novel. This enables the reader to easily understand what the author is talking about. He explains the thoughts in the minds of characters when they are making crucial decisions. The novel is exceptionally well edited. I did not come across any error while I was reading. The end is fascinating and promises a sequel to this novel.

I rate the novel 4 out of 4 stars because there is nothing that I disliked about it, and the author's writing style is interesting. I recommend the novel to teenagers preparing for exams. I also recommend it to readers of horror novels. It lacks erotic scenes. It has many profane words hence it is not recommended for audiences that are younger than teens. The author talks about concepts like finding meaning in life which makes it to be informative.

A humourous horror story ought to be interesting. I also like the premise of this story. Identical twins with different everything else, the history teacher who doesn't like the twins and the sacrificing part. I might read this one some day. Thanks.

I am not a big fan of horror stories, but I can see why this book would be interesting to teenagers. This author captures their attention by creating characters that they can relate to. Thank you for your comprehensive review.

I wondered if this book would be interesting. The names of the characters alone are comedic. Meat, for instance.
I think I will enjoy reading this book.
Thanks for the informative review.
