Mixed Blessings is a well-written historical novel that covers a wide range of issues, including racism, religion, government, and family, among others. The book's central focus, however, is racial discrimination. J. M. Muse is the author of this thought-provoking novel. This is an intriguing book that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout.

The book begins with a conversation between Kimberly and the Honorable Kublai Khan. Kublai Khan is employed by the U.S. government to work as an enumerator in the census exercise. The goal of the exercise is to help the government develop and execute policies that will benefit the public. Through the interview, you’ll realize that racism exists in the United States of America. Kublai’s question, "Is your daughter of Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish origin?" clearly brings out the theme of race. This question almost got Kimberly angry.

Khan is adamant about combating racism. As a result, he devises a plan to put an end to this inhumane act. Despite the fact that he is a servant of God in his church, The House of Jeremiah Temples, he comes up with an unimaginable plan to eliminate the whole white race in the United States of America. Kimberly, on the other hand, is traveling to Mexico from the United States. She is going to visit her father, who is of Mexican origin. She is also going to find the answer to her real identity.

Without doubt, this is an interesting book that will keep you guessing with its twists and turns. I like various aspects of this wonderful book. The characters were well-developed and outstanding. This improved the flow of the story and made it more appealing. The other thing that I liked about the book was its plot. It was well-researched, as the story includes detailed descriptions of events and places. The only aspect of the book that I did not like was the characterization of Kublai Khan and Kimberly. This is due to the fact that identifying the story's main character between the two proved tough.

I was embraced by the motherly attributes of Kimberly’s mother, Rachel Solberg. She was bold, courageous, and loving. She was bold and courageous because she made a difficult decision to allow her daughter to visit Mexico, which she knew was an insecure place. Furthermore, she did this because of her loving nature. She wanted her daughter to feel the presence of both parents. As a result, she's my favorite character in the novel. My least favorite character in the story was Dalton. This is because he never supported the idea of ending racism. In fact, he accused Kublai Khan of blasphemy just because he was fighting the demonic act of racial discrimination.

I give this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was professionally edited, as I could not trace any kind of error in it. Moreover, the book is action-packed and interesting. I would recommend it to lovers of historical fiction novels. Also, those interested in politics, religious matters, racial studies, and family issues will benefit from this book.
