Have you ever wondered what happens to you when you die? Do you think you have an idea of what the afterlife is like? Hattie Vavaseur by M. Rebecca Wildsmith is an intriguing story that gives a look at what life is like after death. Hattie is dead, but she didn't quite know it. The story begins with her attending a funeral with no recollection of whose it was. She internally criticized the way the mourners were behaving. Hattie had no idea where she was or where she was going when a chauffeur came to pick her up. Being the sophisticated woman that she was, she didn't want to ask questions and have it be known that she had lost her memories. She smiled politely and went along with the driver. The chauffeur took her to a huge mansion where the real problem started. For one, the owner of the house didn't like her and she was placed in a room that she detested. It was after meeting a clairvoyant woman named Vamelda that things began to make sense.

This story is set in nineteenth century England and I liked how meticulously the author conveyed the era. The story flowed smoothly and is quite captivating. One positive aspect of the book is the way the author described the characters and the sceneries. I particularly liked the character of Hattie. She maintained her decorum, despite all the chaotic events going on around her.

The only negative aspect of the book is how slow-paced it is. It took a while for the characters to realize things that were very obvious. Other than that, there was nothing that impeded my reading experience. Hattie Vavaseur is a fantasy fiction with a mix of drama, comedy and romance.

Hattie Vavaseur is eloquently written and seems to be professionally edited. I only found one minor error. This is an easy, engrossing read that can be done in one sitting. I was at the end of the story before I knew it. The writer makes it suspenseful and hard to put down. I proudly rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.

The after life is an interesting topic and is open to different interpretations. Hattie Vavaseur is the total entertainment package for a cosy read, especially on Halloween. Persons who enjoy reading mysteries, thrillers, and those who have an inquisitive mind will enjoy this book. It is truly a page-turner and worth the read.

I have been as well. Especially, the culture of the Victorian Era. And this book perfectly depicts that culture. I'm sure you'll enjoy this read!
