This novel delves into the mind of a mentally unstable woman and her longing to have a child of her own. The story is told through three women: Claudia, the step-mother with a baby of her own on the way; Zoe, the nanny hired to help Claudia with the children; and Lorraine, a detective set on finding the perpetrator of crimes committed on pregnant women.

The one and only problem I have with this book is that it seemed to drag on in certain places. It kept coming up that Claudia must be due any day, yet that day never seemed to come, Also, Lorraine’s whole struggle with her family seemed quite irrelevant. I think it could have easily been cut out without hindering upon the main plot.

The ending was stunning. I had to go over the last few chapters twice before it all truly sank in. It was a great little surprise to finish with.
