Review of B-Side
With their anniversary fast approaching, Mara Bay look forward to it, since she could relax on her anniversary with her girlfriend. She works as a detective for LAPD. Casey is her girlfriend, just after breaking up with Derek, her ex-boyfriend. Casey is attacked in their home and is brutally beaten almost to death. Mara Bay is eager and determined to find the culprit but in return, she has to keep her relationship with her jealous girlfriend, a secret. This is done so that her colleagues do not think that her judgement is biased since Casey is her girlfriend.
B-Side by Janis Jones is a mystery/thriller novel that is entertaining throughout the whole book. I loved that Mara Bay had to pass through obstacles before she solves the mystery in the end. The book kept me guessing to the end as the mystery slowly unravelled. Despite this aspect, the book didn't bring monotony and boredom to the reader. Character development is another special aspect of the book. My favourite character is mara Bay. She faces many obstacles but still manages to go through the mazes.
B-Side is narrated in the third-person perspective. This is my favourite part as I learn many things that the character in the book doesn't know. The characters in the book include Mara, Casy, Mara's colleagues, and one seemingly harmless and homeless man. The beginning of the book is joyous and inviting to the reader and brings out the uniqueness of the book. The conversation between/among the people in the book is in reader engaging also. I did not find any negative aspects in the book.
I rate B-Side by Janis Jones 4 out of 4 stars. I give it a full rating since I did not find any negative aspects. The book was also professionally edited since I did not find any grammar errors. The book also contains entertaining stories that many would like to read during their free time. The book was professionally written but still used simple words that were easy to go through. The slow but unravelling plot of the story contributes to my rating of the book.
I recommend this book to lovers of mystery/thriller novels above the age of sixteen. This is due to the number of profane words in the book. This book will also be entertaining to readers of fiction books. Udults should also note that this book will not be suitable for teens especially 12-year-olds.
