Review of Duplicity
Duplicity is a thriller book written by Fin C. Gray. This book is about crime, substance abuse, life-threatening tragedies, terrorism, family bonding, love, and grief. It is one of the books that evoke a person’s emotions and take the readers towards the path with twists and turns.
Humans make mistakes, and they are not wicked by birth. However, the situations make them submit to darkness. The story revolves around the life of Tom and his family. Tom, with his wife and two children, tries to build the life they think they deserve. Already experiencing a downfall in his career and his wife supporting him through hardships, a tragic event took place in his life. Therefore, it lead to a problem between each family member and shattered the bonding. It leads Tom to indulge in drinking, and his son Daniel feels hatred towards his father and simultaneously finds comfort in Waqar. One terrible choice flipped the lives of this family and the strangers around them.
There is not a single aspect of the book that I dislike. However, there are several aspects that I liked, motivating me to keep enjoying this book. First, I liked how the author portrayed all the characters (especially Tom and Daniel) such as the emotions delivered by these characters were intriguing. Second, I like the writing style opted by the author as he professionally switched the scenarios from past to present and vice versa. Last, I liked the events related to violence because I love reading novels that depict crime or action and create suspense.
I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars because this is one of my favorite genres, and the author was efficient in keeping my interest and focus intact. Also, this book is captivating and motivates readers to read it in one sitting. Furthermore, the content leads the readers to experience different emotions. I didn’t rate it 3 stars since it is masterly edited. There are minor grammatical errors. However, that can be neglected by the readers.
I would recommend this book especially to those people who are interested in reading fictional books which are based on crime, thriller, and suspense. Moreover, anyone can read this book, be it of any religion, but it is most suited to those having an open mind towards taboo subjects such as gay relationships. Also, I would not commend it to the young readers because of profanities, sexual content, and violence. However, other readers need to be careful too because of these aspects. I would request the readers to don't get offended if they find any concept against their liking. It is the only piece of work done by the author. I wish to read more novels written by him.
