[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Prints In the Snow" by E. F. Townsend.]
Prints In the Snow, by E. F. Townsend, is a crime and mystery novel. One early Christmas morning, Tori Hartley walked in the cold night to get to her home. Just as she entered her house, she heard a bang on her front door. Tori went over to the door and looked outside. She saw something lying on the snow. Without hesitation, she called 911 and waited. Afterwards, she went outside and saw a man lying in a crumpled heap. She went back inside the house to wait for the police, and when she looked out again, the body was gone.
Later on, the police found the body with bullet wounds, and soon after that, strange occurrences started taking place one after the other. Tori and her close friend, Hal Breakspear, a paranormal investigator, teamed up to unravel the mystery of the weird happenings. Would they succeed or get themselves into trouble?
This novel is interesting and entertaining with a plot full of suspense and twists. The paranormal matters and investigation in it really got me hooked. It was difficult for me to close the book occasionally because I was very keen on knowing what's next. The author ensured that he made the next event unpredictable, and I commend him for that.
Involving a curse, a counterfeiting operation, and love, the book is a worthwhile read. What I like most about it is that it's clear and easily comprehensible. The author's straightforward words and conversations make it more appealing. Though it's the second book in a series, it ends in a satisfactory manner.
Regarding the characters, they are all intriguing, both the good and bad ones. The author described them with just enough details to make them lifelike. While reading, I saw every character vividly as if I was seeing them in a movie. Tori, one of the main characters, is a rare woman. She's intelligent and brave. However, she sure knows how to tread on dangerous ground. Hal, the other protagonist, is also brave and sweet.
Nonetheless, though I enjoyed reading Prints In the Snow, it contains some creepy scenes, particularly the one involving bats. Hence, if you don't like books with creepy stuff, you may want to skip this one.
Finally, I rate Prints In the Snow 4 out of 4 stars. I couldn't rate it lower since it's engaging and suspenseful. It was well written. Moreover, it was professionally edited; I noticed just two typos. It'll be a great read for readers who love crime and mystery novels, especially those seasoned with the paranormal.
