Review of A Walk Through the Grapes
Who would have thought that the life of a young man from the countryside could be that engaging? A Walk Through the Grapes by David Jackson captures the mysterious events that happen when Jace comes back to his hometown. Every member of his family welcomes him with hugs and kisses. Dane, the main character’s brother, organises a party, a bone fire. From there on, everything complicates to another level. The brothers start to fight and leave the party upset. A horrible car accident happens and Dane is missing. Their father and Jace are brought by police to the interrogation. After that, he receives a haircut from his ex's sis. From there on, a relationship between Jace and his ex’s sis begins. Dane is still missing and no one doesn't do anything to find him sooner. That makes Jace extremely pissed off. He makes a car accident and forgets everything from recent years. When he goes home, he finds a mysterious metal door attached to the ground which leads to some underground tunnels. Why does everyone keep secrets from Jace? Will he be able to find what is going on? This book highlights the character's dreams about his past choices to go and try to be an actor in New York City or his death. There are moments with gunshots, multiple hospitalisations, car accidents, houses on fire and relationships conflict and love.
As you can guess, Davis Jackson writes an awesome book in which the character finds the truth with the small clues which are left here and there. There are beautiful moments in which the process of making wine is shown and it detailed cars, some more interesting than others. A Walk Through the Grapes puts forward the mimics, the gestures, the feelings of all the characters. In the middle of the novel, life quotes are attached to highlight the situation.
I don't reckon something not good about the book. The reading was wonderful and light. Maybe just some extra details like what was on TV, something that doesn't connect with the actions, but others than that, the explanations are so good. Not many writers can describe the surroundings and the characters as well as this author. Only he knows how a dream can be so brilliant or a door opening so long-awaited.
I rate this book four out of four stars because I didn't find any errors, even if we speak about grammatical or spelling errors. It seems like the book was professionally edited. It does not contain vulgar or profane words and there aren't sex scenes, nevertheless, there are some more intimate moments between couples. I don't give three stars or less because, as I explained earlier, there are no bad parts during the book's action.
I recommend this book to everyone who is not from the countryside because when you read this novel, you live with the characters and their daily lives are perfectly described. You will learn so much about the countryside. Also, everyone who wants to know about alternatives and who likes mysteries definitely should read this amazing book.
