Review of E M P Honeymoon
E M P Honeymoon, written by Dorothy May Mercer, is a story about a terrorist's absurd hatred of America and the patriotism of American citizens in the face of a terror attack. In this story, Kelly and Tom, two of the protagonists, had gone on their honeymoon. But their plan to stay away from the distraction of their jobs for the duration of their honeymoon comes to a rude stop when they uncover a plot to attack the continent of North America. They decide to do the little they can to help their nation, but what good are two people against a satellite with an EMP attached to it? They, and all who join forces with them, are determined to stop this attack before it hurts an uncountable number of people. But that would not be an easy task to execute.
Patriotism is expected of every citizen of a country. It is demanded of them. But it cannot be enforced because our free will cannot be stopped. However, it is a thing of beauty whenever citizens go out of their way to protect their country. Be it by uttering words or by action. Kelly and Tom showed me beauty in its purest form. I know that this novel was written to entertain all those that read it, but I ended up learning from it.
What I disliked the most in E M P Honeymoon were the pictures of the rocket placed on every chapter of the book. I do not know why Dorothy May Mercer put those there. But it irritated me a lot since it looked out of place in the book. This is my opinion. When you read it, you may love the pictures.
I chose to mention what I liked least in the novel first because I wanted to end the subject of my likes and dislikes on a positive note. As I have already mentioned, one of the positive points for me about this book is how much it taught me about patriotism and love for my country. Another thing that I liked was the climax of events in the story. It was not just the fact that there was major conflict, but also the way that Dorothy May Mercer described this conflict and the actions taken by all the characters involved. It was very detailed and vivid. It was so detailed that my mind decided to go ahead and paint scene after scene for me. I am not kidding you. So that is what I liked the most about E M P Honeymoon.
I believe that E M P Honeymoon deserves an excellent rating regardless of the fact that I did not like the pictures in the book. That is just a small irritation. So the excellent rating, in this case, is 4 out of 4 stars. The reasons have already been mentioned, and also because it was exceptionally edited. I am glad that I did not see any typos in it from the start until I finished reading it. If you are looking for a thriller that focuses on the steps that terrorists take before attacking and what those on the other side will do to stop them, you should definitely read E M P Honeymoon (it comes highly recommended by me).
