When I was given this book in exchange for an honest review I was thrilled as I just love Rhiannon Frater's As The World Die's series.
The Last Bastion Of The Living is very different from every other zombie book I have ever read and in a good way.
The Bastion is pretty much dead. Food is running low and the power keeps going out. Ever since the inferi scourge broke through the gate and destroyed everything in the valley the city has been overcrowded, with no way to grow food. If it wasn't for Dwayne, Maria would have no reason to live. It is because of that love that Maria volunteers to help rid the valley of the scourge once and for all. For the sake of humanity will she succeed, after one failed attempt it is highly unlikely. Wish her luck!
I was a tiny bit disappointed in the lack of zombie gore but in saying that Rhiannon created an amazing futuristic world. This book shed a whole new light to how the virus was created in the first place and a whole new class of zombies. She has done a wonderful job on this standalone novel I thoroughly enjoyed the love between Maria and Dwayne. The ending completely wowed me, once again Rhiannon has done an outstanding job two thumbs up. I give t four stars as a brilliant read but more fighting wouldn't have hurt. You can find it at Amazon and Itunes for under $4.
