Review of Rape, I didn't do it. I'm innocent

[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Rape, I didn't do it. I'm innocent" by Tommy Sickels.]
Rape, I didn’t do it. I’m innocent is crafted by Tommy Sickels. The publication is the epitome of the injustices that occur in the contemporary world. 16-years-old Jackie Shobe says she was defiled on her way from school to home. The inhumane act happened between 3:00 PM and 3:30 PM. And yet, she arrived home three hours later.
She gets home and informs her grandmother, her primary care guardian, of the act. Grandmother calls the police and notifies them. One thing leads to another, and detective Sickels is assigned to the case. Sickels displays an array of photos of past sexual offenders, and the victim, Jackie, identifies one of Dwayne Scruggs. However, some things Shobe says do not add up, and the detective is adamant about this. Scruggs insists he is innocent and backs up his claims with how his day went on the alleged rape day. Should there be a trial and the court finds Dwayne guilty, he could be looking at a felony conviction of over 30 years in prison.
I enjoyed how Tommy lays out the happenings of sex crime systematically. He does not do it in haste; instead, the author discusses how interviews are conducted of both the victim and alleged offender to the point of a trial. Plus, there’s a map of where the forced sexual act occurred on the book’s ending pages. It shows how motivated and patient the author was in composing this work.
In this narrative, rather than discussing race as the fuel for injustice, the author takes us through a rushed hearing, lack of witnesses for the alleged offender, possible personal vendetta, etc. In contrast, we have a lead detective solely interested in the rightful outcome of a trial rather than having his name on the front page of the newspaper for an unlawful conviction.
Unfortunately, I detected a few things I disdained. One, there are redundant sentences and many repetitions. For example, when Sickels interviews Kala, the exact words are repeated to the prosecutor and the defendant. And there’s more of such. I also found several typos and errors. Although the flaws were few, some were minor typos. One example is a character’s name which was avoidable. Thus, I rate it 3 out of 4 stars.
Even so, the book is professionally edited. The suspense of knowing Dwayne’s fate kept me on my toes. I recommend the book to any reader interested in legal proceedings and detective work.
